Soul Selector Series: Vol 3 Tall Sarah

A great selection of big weekender anthem, from the jazz dance classic of "Venceremos" to The Trammps, from Barry White and Teddy Pendergrass to The Mother Funkaz ending on the full 11min version of "Don't Leave Me This Way", a ture Soul Moves classic if there ever was one.Sarah played at both the Soul Moves all day Sunday Soul Sessions and this mix features a few of those tunes.Check out the mix :http://www.sendspace.com/file/t9d1elQ. what was your inspiration for the mix ? TS - the Southport Weekender - either tunes I discovered there, my favourite tunes there or one I'd really like to hear there Q Whats your favourite "soul memory", a live gig, dj set TS - got to be the 3 times I've seen Barry White - twice at the Apollo, Manchester and once at Sheffield City Hall. Q you called the mix weekender anthems, what was your last weekender, and whats your next one ? TS - just got back from Southport Weekender 43 and hopefully will be at the Luxury Soul Weekender for my birthday in January Q.What is the bomb tune on this mix ? TS - they're all massive bombs in my book! BUT if I had to choose one it would be don't leave me this way. Reminds me of Bucky's 5 hour set a Sankeys a couple of years ago bouncing about at the front and also Dr Bob dropped this version after Rahaans superb set at SPW 42 - I was aching all over but could not stop dancing to it Q What else can we expect from you on the soul tip ? - lots and lots! I'll be doing a Weekender After Party mix within the next month and I have a few single artist mixes planned .Enjoy the music.

Soul Selector Series: Vol. 2 Chris E

Our second guest mix comes from the Out Of The Gloom soul brother Chris E. Its a great mix that cuts true to the Soul Moves ethos of everyshade of soul music and covers tunes from Eddie Kendricks to The Blackbyrds, from D'Angello to Clyde Alexandra. Check out Love Unlimited and Plantlife, and watch out for a Michael Jackson tune that will knock ya soul socks off....I caught up with Chris at the recent Southport Weekender, and over a Mojito or two in the Beat Bar, we chatted about the mix....Q. What was the inspiration for the mix ?The inspiration for the mix came from a recent gig I had been asked to play. The emphasis of the music during the event was Soul Music and although I play out often it was probably the first time i'd been asked to nail down a whole set like that. Digging through my music collection, unearthing tracks I haven't played for years or had even forgotten about inspired me to put a little mix together and what your hearing is the result!Q.What is the bomb track on the mix ?I L.O.V.E. all the tracks on this mix! But stand out ones for me are D'Angelo's - Left & Right, George Benson - Soulful Strut and the absolutely stunning Ethel Beatty - Its Your Love.Q. What does the term "soul music" bring to your mind ?Rhythm & Blues, Gospel, Jazz, Disco, Funk, Blues & Hip Hop and how good it makes me feel when I listen to it! Q.If you could choose any set to play at the Southport Weekender, which would it be ?Each time I go to the weekender the feeling I get grows more and more in heart! If I could play there, i'd love to do a set in the B-Bar 4am - 6am! It would be party central anything goes! From Jazz - House, Soul - Drum & Bass! Q Which artist from back in the day is your number one soul man or soul sister ?I could mention so many legends from way back when and say they were my number one but its actually someone from more recents times that is responsible for making me sit up, take notice and get interested in music with Soul! That man is the british born OMAR! I was 9 years old when he released 'There's Nothing Like This' and it remains one of my favourite tracks of all time, its a piece of music that I could identify with and its responsible for the muscial paths and rhythms that I follow today!Q. Which artist/dj from today's soul spectrum do you respect, and why ?I have a lot of respect for artists like D'Angelo, Bilal, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott! Because they constantly push the boundaries and produce timeless music which captures the feeling of what soul music is! Q. Thanks for the mix Chris, maybe you will grace us with a house mix next time hey ?Ha Ha Ha! Soulful vocal bombs all the way!!! Superb Chris, we will watch out for that for sure.Check out the mix from the link below :http://rapidshare.com/files/163655931/S ... L.mp3.html
